In low-frequency mode, your brain's amygdala is activated and adrenaline is coursing through your body. But in high-frequency mode, neurons become more active and the neurotransmitter serotonin increases. This puts the brakes on fear and tension, calms anxiety and encourages sleep—leading to a sense of general well-being that can last for hours or days.
